For almost a decade now, any loud, crystal clear, non-custom sound system worth its salt has been comprised of the UK made Funktion-One cabinets. Whether at a club or festival, Funktion-One have been the go to company for clarity and loudness in any environment. This may all be about to change though, as Bowers & Wilkins prepare to unveil their new Sound System specifically designed for the large scale festival and possibly large club settings.

These new cabinets stand at 3.2 metres tall, with a whopping total of 64 drivers per box, comprised of:

  • 64 x 1" tweeters
  • 16 x 6” midrange
  • 16 x 10” mid/bass
  • 32 x 15” low frequency bass

This mammoth cabinet is split into 12 separate enclosures and can output an incredible 30,000W per unit!  To test the system out in a live environment they will be installing these systems in the Igloo tent at the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona from May 29th to 31st.

Bowers & Wilkins say this new system will bring you:

"all the realism you'd expect from a top-end speaker, but delivered at scale for the first time"

Bowers & Wilkins Brand Director Danny Haikin.

I for one can't wait to hear these new cabinets up loud and personal!
