Drum And Bass Worldwide - Drum n Bass Radio Old Skool

DNB v DUBSTEP
Image
round 1 - FIGHT!
It seems as if everyone is releasing tracks with a dubstep b-side these days.

Dubstep has crept up and rooted itself firmly in alliance with DNB quicker than your mother in law sides with your missus. But what do you think?

Is it just a poor mans DNB, cos the producers cant handle the bpm's? Or is it a natural progression and evolution of our music?

Is it the shit on jungle's shoe? Or is it the new kid on the block come to take the kings throne?

Is it a weed smokers head nodding dream? Or is it boring, dull and monotonous?....

Opinions welcome people...

Ok in small doses.
I think that when DJs chuck 1 or 2 into their set its cool because it changes the vibe of the dance in ways which i have not seen before. But I also aggree on the quote "LETS FACE IT, WE ALL KNOW,
DUBSTEP IS DNB
ON A;
C
O
M
E
D

N
!
"

Love it
You get a far more dirty bass with dubstep and the sounds are immense. Still f***ing love D'n'B though smilies/cool.gif

IF YOU GET UP&GO'S GOT UP&GONE, ITS AN EXPERIENCE.
BUT I THINK IT NEEDS SOME HYPER-ACTIVITY U KNOW?
DEEP SLOW MO BASSLINES? FINE. BUT MAYBE SOME SPRINGY WAH GUITARS? OR FLICKERING, SHREDDED PADS?

ENGLAND!
MANIPULATE THE MOTION!

jibba jabba!
Not my cup of tea but you gotta remember that dub was around along time before dnb, dubstep is just modernised dub music where the original dubplate culture started from. alot of people think its a new sound but its just been resurected to this modern format that it is today.
I think dubstep has a healthy and tight nit scene just like jungle used to have, they keep it tight, but if you look at the dnb scene its just way to watered down, look how many internet stations, labels and djs are doing dnb now ( this is not a diss,it means the scene is healthy)and you wont get many if at all any dubstep dj's playing cd decks.
all in all i respect the dubstep scene for keeping it real and not encroaching on our scene, which alot of dnb djs seem to be doing with the dubstep scene.

its obviously popular now as alot of promoters are putting dubstep dj's alongside jungle dj's but i dont think it really works to be honest.

I'm not a great lover of Dub, sounds like 33rpm DnB. Can only handle bout 2 tunes then it gets dull. Lets hope it doesn't do to DnB what grime did to Garage ay.
